To install the mod, copy the "Data Files" subdirectory to
your "Morrowind" directory (or extract the archive to
"Morrowind"). Be sure to enable the mod in your "Data
Files" options of the game.

To start the mod, head to Suran and talk to one of the
Imperial Guards. You will need a player of at least level
thirty-five (recommended minimum level due to combat
difficulty). There are skinned bodies and other unpleasant
things in the mod, therefore a maturity rating of ADULT
is given, you have been warned.

NOTE: This is NOT a patch for the earlier version of
HorrorMod done by LightningFlik... it is INCOMPATIBLE with
that mod. If you have installed that mod, uninstall it,
back up to a saved game prior to it's install, THEN install
this Horror Mod.

Short Horror Mod walk-through (just enough to get all six of
the Nanorian Stones... then you are on your own)

by MentalElf (Barney Blankenship)
=================================================================

Go to the Suran Tradehouse and see Achell Vandem, Lantern
Salesman. Buy 1-5 "Bright Lanterns" from him (they are 180
each, you may wish to use persuasion on him to get his
disposition up first to save some money). Also, you will
encounter a number of undead that can give you Blight, so
you may want to stock up on cure Blight potions (or get the
spell if you can cast something so difficult). Likewise,
there is a need for restore stats type potions or spells.
Though a large number of doors and containers will require a
specific key, there remains a need for lock opening stuff
(either lockpicks, spells, or scrolls) on the order of lock
level 20 plus (there ARE a number of lock level 100 doors
and containers, be warned). When ready, head to the rear of
Suran, leaving out the back and following the path
Southeast. When you reach the Imperial Guard turn left up
the hill (you may have to kill a few Cliff Racers). Talk to
Imperial Lord Camus (be insistant on entering) to get the
key that opens the Old Cave door.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
OLD CAVE (key: "Key to Old Cave")
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Equip one of the Bright Lanterns upon entering here to see.
There are a bunch of Demon Snakes under the walkway here,
that can be avoided. The passage to the left is a
diversion, ending in an unopenable door (dog whining sound).
So stop at the barrels below the steps up and check for
loot, then immediately take the steps up and head left
(North). You will get a journal update about the spilled
blood. There is a "decaying corpse" in the passage. Touch
the corpse and a monster (a black Hunger like thing called a
"Dark Fiend") will appear and attack. Since the corpse has
nothing on it but a spooky note, I'd skip bothering it.
Down the passage is a torture area. A valuable (12k gold)
and nasty (25-35 slash) "Mithril Knife" (type short blade)
is stuck in the floor here for the taking. Below this
platform is a metal trapdoor leading to the "Lower Depths"
in addition to a mummy with a bottle of "Holy Essense"
(restore health 300 points, worth 2k gold).

-----------------------------------------------------------------
LOWER DEPTHS (standard lock level 30)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

There are "Demonic Bats" here along with a number of "Lesser
Demonites" (big half-fleshed skeletons). There is also a
"Hell Spawn" (giant Lesser Bonewalker) in a cage that you
will have to kill if you ever wish to rest here, since he is
hostile. The bats have a typical melee type attack (bite I
suppose) but the Lesser Demonites have some potentially
nasty spells... paralysis and fireball type of spells.
There is a Admantium Axe (worth 5k gold) stuck in one of the
toture racks to the North. The passage out is here as well,
going North of the torture rack. There are more bats and
Lesser Demonites to kill. There is a three-way (actually a
four-way) where the passage splits, straight North is the
door to "Cavern of the Dead". Left is a dead end, but
lighter colored stone blocks above mark the entrance to a
"Dark Horror's" Lair (a giant Black Widow spider). To the
right in the three-way is a greenish "Large Boulder" you
must move to open the passage there to access "The Butcher".
You must have an effective strength of 56 or higher to be
able to move the boulder. Inside is "The Butcher" and he's
hostile. He has Orcish gear and a nice long blade "Hook
Sword" (4k gold, 35-50 thrust). Your journal will note that
he is not responsible for the bloody footprints you have
been following. Grab the six bottles of "Holy Essence" from
the mummies (one on each). Leave the guy in the flaming
cage (Bruno) alone, he's a diversion (no point to trying to
kill him, he is invulnerable. Turn around and head straight
West through the intersection to where two Lesser Demonites
are just behind some webs. Up and South is the entrance (a
hole) to the "Dark Horror's" lair marked by lighter square
stone blocks. Kill the "Dark Horror" (giant black widow
spider, a tough fight!) and get the "Brass Key" from her
"Ancient Chest" (lock level 45). Continue to the end of the
passage, where the door to "Halls of the sinner" is. Get
ready for combat and take the door.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
HALLS OF THE SINNER (open)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

There are a number of Demon Trolls here, and some are close
to the door you enter by. The Northeast most passage is a
short dead end with nothing there. The South then North and
West passage (two more Demon Trolls) leads to a door you
must have the "Brass Key" (from the Dark Horror's chest) to
open. Opening this door reveals a "Giant chest" lock level
50. Inside is the "Nanorian Stone of Skulls" (get this).
When you reverse direction, keep going, past the
intersection, heading East, where you kill two more trolls.
Continue, you will come to a cave with a friendly Zombie in
it, Voodoo Lou. He is a merchant, so stock up on whatever
you may need. Head back up the passage and take the middle
passage at the intersection NW to the boss, an "Evil Troll"
(a very large Demon Troll). Kill him, he has the "Slimy
Key". Follow around right (East) of the center blocked area
to the door "Crypt of Memories". Turn around and look
up. You should see up and right a cage on a tall boulder and
a chest. Levitate up there and open the "Secret chest"
(requires "Slimy Key" to open) to get "Zanbato Sword", a
nice "long blade two-handed" (40-95 chop, 23K gold). Go
ahead and take the door "Crypt of Memories".

-----------------------------------------------------------------
CRYPT OF MEMORIES (open)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

There are a number of "Demon Child" here (corprus stalkers)
in addition to a couple of ghost "Demon Child" you can talk
to.. "Ralph" and "Billy". These conversations are needed to
get their "ashes" if you wish to pick up a prize magic staff
later. You can get "Black Heart Blight" disease easily
fighting "Demon Child" so you may wish to carry some "Cure
Blight" potions or scrolls, or get the spell "Vivec's Tears"
somewhere (an expensive and difficult spell costing 100
magicka), as well as some restore strength and restore
endurance potions, scrolls, or spells. Go straight ahead,
the passage leads to an open room with just Billy in it
(visit him). When heading back, turn right where the drop
is, (NW) marked by a "Daggle Tail" flower. Continue down
the passage, you may wish to levitate down where the passage
splits, however both paths lead to the same "Torturer's pit"
area. The left fork has Ralph (visit him too) in it near
it's end who will tell you about the pit. The Torturer's
Pit area is marked with plumes of flame and large blocks
spiraling upward. Levitating to the top of this you will
find the "Torturer of Souls" boss (Winged Twilight). She
has strong spells (for example 5-50 damage health plus 1-3
off just about all of your stats at the same time!) and even
stronger melee attack (e.g. 30-45). Be prepared to restore
your stats again after combat with her, and bring something
nasty to kill her quickly with, or perhaps "absorb health"
type attack to keep yourself alive. On the platform where
she is, there is a "Nanorian Stone of Burning" which can be
easily spotted by it's spewing plume of orange steam (grab
this). Also grab "Claire's Ashes". Levitate back down to
either path and return back the way you came, through "Halls
of the Sinner" to the "Lower Depths" and head North at the
four way in the passage to the door "Cavern of the Dead".

-----------------------------------------------------------------
CAVERN OF THE DEAD (open)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Be prepared for a big fight here as soon as you go through
the door as there are bunches of skeletons, skeleton
archers, and skeleton champions. Fortunately these are
clearly hurt by fire damage, so a large area effect strong
fireball spell is great here. Expect to use up a large
number of exclusive restore magicka potions during the
battle with the skeleton hordes if choosing to magic spell
them to death. When you get down the stairs to the wood
platform the nastiest of the skeletons are to your right, a
Demon Skeleton and two Undead Archers (fortunately there are
just three total, whew). In the alcove where the skeletons
are, go through the barrels and crates for loot, there are a
few useful potions to be had. Note that behind the crates
are large dwemer doors to the "Butchery". Go back to the
wooden platform where you can see a forcefield blocked area
ahead, and to your right are steps down and two suspended
cages. Head down the steps and down the passage to it's
end, where there is a "Hell Spawn" trapped by tall wooden
spikes. Note this location... we will be coming back for
the "Secret chest" there (which requires a special
key... the Burden Key). Kill the "Hell Spawn" (giant Lesser
Bonewalker) now if you wish, either with ranged attack or
levitating over the spikes to do close combat (melee). You
should be able to rest here if you kill the Hell Spawn.
Head back the way you came, but note that there is a iron
trapdoor below to the "Pit of Agony" (special key required).
Head up the steps and left to the dwemer doors behind the
crates and enter the "Butchery".

-----------------------------------------------------------------
BUTCHERY (open)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

You will not have to commence combat immediately here.
However upon entering three areas, monsters will spawn in
locations you may have already passed, requiring combat to
leave. These monsters are "Blood Bishops" which are
"ghostly" invisible. They don't cast any spells, just melee
attack. Head due South and follow the stairs up to a room
with a shelf with a skeleton, bones, and some skulls on it.
On the second shelf there's a key made of bone "Key to Stove
666". Grab this key. Note the location of the "Bloody
Closet" in the corner and head back to the entrance area.
Heading North you will reach a row of stoves (iron closets)
on your right (East), go right and find "Steel Stove #666"
and open it (requires "Key to Stove 666"). Take the
"Troll's Chest Key" from within. Now head to the end of the
corridor where there is a butcher knife on the floor (grab
this and a dead body appears behind you with a thump, on the
body is a spooky note... this can be skipped). Head left
again making a circle to the grates by the entrance area and
then up the stairs to the "Crushed Skeleton". On this
corpse is an "Amazing Lantern"... grab this, it's a Bright
Lantern of basically infinite life. You can now drop any
"Bright Lanterns" you still have to lighten your load if
needed. Also get the key on the book nearby, the "Deeper
Caverns Key" Head down the stairs and left (East) where a
set of doors lead to "Pandemonium" (skip altogetherUNFINISHED), it
simply contains a corpse), go past into a room, checking the
barrels for loot (a couple of gems perhaps). You may get a
message "silence hangs in the air" which indicates four
"Blood Bishops" are nearby and combat is about to start
provided you go where they are in the Butchery (back the way
you came). There's a trapdoor at the back of the room to
the "Butchery"... take it (this requires the key you just
picked up... "Deeper Caverns Key"). You will find yourself
in a sort of stone spike filled cave area, and there is a
door below you to "Troll's Lair", levitate down to it,
prepare for combat, and enter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
TROLL'S LAIR (open, but trapdoor above Troll Door requires
the "Key to the Lower Depths" found in Butchery)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Immediately upon entering here you are attacked by a pair of
"Blood Trolls". These are somewhat slow creatures with both
spells and melee attack. Take the Wooden Door after slaying
these to engage combat with the boss "Death Troll" (a
ghostly invisible giant Troll) and two Blood Trolls. Get
the "Burden Key" off the "Death Troll's" dead body.
Remember the "Secret chest" in the "Cavern of the Dead" (the
chest where a Hell Spawn is trapped by a circle of tall
wooden spikes)? This is the key to that chest. Another key
is here as well. Open the "Troll's chest" at the back of
the Troll boss area (requires "Troll's Chest Key" from Steel
Stove #666 in the Butchery). Grab "Key to Bloody Closet".
Head back the way you came to the upstairs of Butchery to
open the "Bloody Closet" and get the "Cup of Passage" and
the "Pit of Agony Key". The cup is not a key. You equip it
to activate it. Hold off on doing this. Track back to
"Cavern of the Dead" and open "Secret chest" (requires
"Burden Key") to get the "Nanorian Stone of Burden". Now
you can equip the "Cup of Passage" and select "yes" to sip
from the cup.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
INSANITY CRADLE (sip from the "Cup of Passage" to get here)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Leave the empty room you start in, turn right outside in the
corridor. Continue right until it circles around South and
you will eventually find a door opening to a room with a
cross over an altar. Loot the "Holy Chest" (lock level 50).
Turn around and take the door. Now you will see corpses and
blood in the corridors. Take a right (West). Keep going
past the open corridor on your left that has some crates and
a door to "Darkened path". Shortly after you will come to a
door "Sturdy Wooden Door" on your left. Skip it, that room
is basically empty. Continue on down the corridor,
eventually heading East, and another "Sturdy Wooden Door"
will be on your left (North). Open it, be prepared to fight
two "Hell Hounds". After killing them, ready yourself for a
fight with a boss, that guy across from you... the "Hell's
Champion". He's got a nasty weapon, lots of life, and magic
resist to kill for. Advance to him and he will greet you,
ending the conversation by starting combat. After killing
him, grab the key he leaves, and leave the room heading back
the way you came to the open corridor leading to a room,
where there's a door to "Darkened path" on your left. You
may rest here if you wish, then take the door (it requires
the "Darkened Path Key").

-----------------------------------------------------------------
DARKENED PATH (requires "Darkened Path Key" from Hell's Champion)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Go down the stairs and open the door, be ready to fight
undead... about three small "Demon Child" (they look like
corpus stalkers). There is a "Child Size Crypt" here with
some loot, and a "Miner's Pick" (be sure to grab the pick!).
After looting the chest the skeletons on the ground will
attack (dispatch them). Open the far door and go through to
kill two more midget "Demon Child" (look like zombies).
Open the door at the end of the corridor and kill three more
midgets (one zombie looking, two corprus stalker looking).
Go to the back of the room, there's a "Rusty Hatch" to
"Blood Dwelling". Take it, the "Miner's Pick" you got will
enable you to open it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
BLOOD DWELLING ("Miner's Pick" from "Darkened path" required
                to open this "Rusty Hatch")
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Go down the stairs, open the door, and be ready to kill two
"The Hungry" (scantily clad, mean, bloody, bald women).
Advance to the next door, open it and go left (SW) and kill
a "The Insane" (same look, except armed with a cleaver).
Turn around, "The Thirstless" may come from the other
direction to attack (again same look, cleaver). Turn
around, continue Southwest down the stairs (skip the "Old
door" on the left, you can't open it yet). Advance through
the far door of the room full of altars to the room with
some skeletal corpses in it. Advance to the altar and a
sound effect will be issued as well as the visual effect of
blood running down the far wall and covering the floor
(spooky effects). If you want, get "Blood Drinker", a long
blade two handed, 25-45 chop absorb health 10-20 for 2
seconds (20k gold). When you head back out an "Asmodeus
Ripper" will be waiting to combat you in the altar area
(even uglier woman). Head back the way you came to where
the corridor split in a "T" and go down the stairs. There
will be a room with a few altars in it and "The Thirstless"
there with her cleaver to attack you. Get ready to fight a
boss and open the "Wooden Door" and proceed down the stairs
into the room toward the guy with ram horns on his head.
"Demon Son Lazarus" will greet you, and end the conversation
by starting combat with you (you will get a journal update).
He's got a nasty sword and a lot of life. See a red plume
of smoke in the blood and ash pit? That's what we came for,
the "Nanorian Stone of Blood". Grab it. Head back the way
you came, just past the "T" to the "Old door" and open it
(the Nanorian Stone you just got will allow you to open
it). You are greeted with a room full of "Lifeless body"
corpses. See that weird head in the ash pit named "Abadon"?
Be ready to leave the area, activate it and when asked
select choice "Grab him!". You will find yourself back in
the "Butchery" by the Bloody Closet. Track your way back to
the exit door and enter "Cavern of the Dead" once more. Go
to the lower area of Cavern of the Dead and get ready to
fight, enter the "Pit of Agony" trap door.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
PIT OF AGONY (key: "Pit of Agony key" from "Bloody Closet")
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Combat is soon after entering here, with a pair of flaming
skulls "Screaming Hellion". Dispatch these and continue on
to help an Angel "Damascus" battle a number of "Blood
Trolls" (be sure the angel lives). Speak with Damascus
after the battle. He will shut down a forcefield blocking
the path ahead in Pit of Agony. Damascus will go poof, so
loot the "Holy Chest". Turn around and head SW (skip the
large door by the Angel spot, nothing there to do) and
levitate up so you can see to your left an open area filled
with spiders (Spinner Terror). These have enough reflect on
them that a fireball here may kill you too. However they
aren't that healthy (30 health) so simply use a sword or
something. Enter, kill them and take the door to "Nest of
Terror".

-----------------------------------------------------------------
NEST OF TERROR (open)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Activate a levitate spell again, and be sure you have plenty
of time on it because it's quite a distance we need to
levitate, and if you fall it's fatal (either that or keep
casting levitation spells every so often). Go due East and
down into the center of this lava bottomed area where there
is a stone block platform with two hook looking stone things
sticking out of it and two little spider "Spinner Terror" on
it. Kill them and loot the exclusive rising force potion
(levitation), along with the "Spider Key" on the peice of
paper. Levitate back up the way you came. Then follow the
ledge around North staying left (West) of the pit. You will
find an alcove with a "Sticky Chest" in it. The "Spider
Key" will open it. Take the "Nanorian Stone of Terror" from
the chest and head back to the "Pit of Agony". After
reentering Pit of Agony area, drop down, stay left and
levitate across the lava area to the bridge. Pause here to
dispatch any "Parasite" that show up (Beholders, or giant
floating-eye monsters). Take the swinging bridge across to
the platform with the red fire emmanating from it and kill
the goblin ("Cursed Grimwall"). Grab the sword sticking out
of the stone to the left it's really nice and you can get an
"upgrade" later (Alastor Sword, Long Blade two handed, chop
40-80, 30k gold, enchanted with "cast on strike" 10 shock
damage). Activate the chair to go to "Nightmare's Lair".

-----------------------------------------------------------------
NIGHTMARE'S LAIR (open, a chair acts as a door)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: In all areas to follow you won't need a special
lantern.

Upon entering, work your way around back of the glowing
transport chair, there's a door that you can swing open to
reveal a chamber (you will get a journal update indicating
the owner is not home). Go in and loot the place. Don't
bother with the "Ring of Temptation" (5k gold, BUT... if you
sold this to a shop keeper they will probably put it on,
keeping you from ever doing business with them again!).
Continue in a counter clockwise direction and grab (if you
want) the nice bow (named Bloodlust, Marksman 25-40 22k
gold). Left and back of the throne grab "Key to Hell". Go
back to the transport chair room and take the opposite door
(Key to Hell will open it). Proceed down the corridor to
the next door and enter it. Momentarily turn around to
check behind you during this sequence for a door going to
"Outer Hell". Do this twice, on the second time when you
turn around, the door behind should go to "Outer Hell".
Take it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
OUTER HELL (open, but Key to Hell required to get to the door)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

There's a large cavern you will levitate through to the
daedric ruin type structure, but before that, take out the
"Demon Cliff Racer" flying around in the cavern with ranged
attacks from the start area. After dispatching him,
levitate down to the daedric ruin structure and get ready
for combat (this is a decent place to rest if you need to).
Take the "Large Round Door" to "The Brothers Arena".

-----------------------------------------------------------------
THE BROTHERS ARENA (open)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

There is no levitation or teleporting allowed in this area.
Upon entering you will immediately be attacked by two
Minotaur. They both have decent health and daedric weapons,
but no spells, resists, or reflect. Kill the two brothers
and loot their bodies... specifically grab the key each one
has ("Lost City Key" and "Oblivion Key"). This is a good
spot to rest if you need to. Take the "Large door" to "City
of the Lost".

-----------------------------------------------------------------
City of the Lost (locked: "City of the Lost Key" required)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Head South in this town to the locked (level 100) and
trapped door to "Dark Bowels". Descend down into this to
it's final area, a small room (behind another lock 100
trapped door) to find on a pedestal the "Nanorian Stone of
Agony". You should now have all six of the Nanorian stones.
Good luck!
